南韓MERS-CoV確診病例昨日破百，確診人數達到108例，死亡人數9例，使國人的恐慌攀升，根據衛生福利部疾病管制署統計，南韓爆出疫情以來，防疫專線的通話量大增，短短20多天內逾千通詢問電話，內容都是詢問到南韓MERS疫情，就怕MERS病毒襲台。
「怎麼樣才不會感染MERS」、「到底可不可以去韓國」、「到了韓國怎麼樣才不會被傳染」、「從韓國回來身體有點不舒服，算是感染MERS嗎？」疾管署統計，自5月20日至6月9日止，共有1183通詢問有關MERS病毒的電話。
疾管署副署長周志浩表示，南韓疫情持續嚴峻，雖然無法排除有社區感染的可能性，但是台灣尚未出現病例，民眾對於疫情是否會擴散不必太過於憂慮，「防疫的相關問題，就交給政府來擔憂。」
周志浩也說，目前台灣對南韓的旅遊疫情建議等級為警示，雖不如香港、澳門、阿拉伯聯合大公國來得嚴格，但已比美國、新加坡、中國、日本等國來的更謹慎，民眾要對台灣的防疫體系有信心。
